 Interns
The American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights (AAPER) seeks interns for its Washington, DC office for the 2012 spring term. AAPER's internship program provides excellent opportunities to college and graduate students considering careers in advocacy on issues of human rights, international relations and U.S. foreign policy, particularly relating to the Middle East.
Spring internships are unpaid. Spring interns are expected to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week to the internship, beginning in January and ending in late April.
The ideal candidates will be outgoing, energetic, hard working, and detail-oriented self-starters. Specific responsibilities may include:
RESPONSIBILITIES

Help organize AAPER's Free Palestine Walks in the Spring

Distribute brochures, postcards and other educational materials to volunteers across the United States

Reach out to AAPER chapters, volunteers and prospective volunteers

Contact donors and prospective donors
-
Help maintain AAPER's website and social media presence

Conduct research on members of Congress, congressional votes and states and districts
-
Produce reports and/or factsheets about the situation in Palestine and U.S. policy toward Palestine

Various administrative tasks
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Recent college graduate, graduate student or undergraduate student in good standing

Knowledge of the Palestinian issue and U.S. policy toward Palestine

Commitment to Palestinian human rights and an equitable U.S. policy toward Palestine

Strong interpersonal skills, including an outgoing personality

Excellent organizational skills
-
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
